Party Food Serving Size Chart

This is the per-person serving chart behind every FeedMyGuests calculator: how much of each food and drink one guest typically goes through, what you buy it in, and how many servings each purchase unit provides. It is built to be easy to cite and to compare against your own vendor quotes or house rules before you place a large order.

How These Standards Are Built

  • Each food and drink starts from a per-person serving baseline, then converts into a real purchase unit like pizzas, pounds, trays, or bottles.
  • Most pages assume the item is a primary offering unless the page explicitly models mixed menus or the "serving other food" option.
  • Planning buffers are usually 10 to 15 percent, with larger buffers for outdoor events, longer events, and large crowds.
  • Drinks follow the common one-drink-per-person-per-hour rule, adjusted for the type of event and the time of day.
  • These baselines are cross-checked against widely used party-planning and catering ranges, then linked back to each calculator so you can adjust by guest count.

Using and Citing This Chart

These serving sizes are starting points, not strict rules. Heavier eaters, all-day events, and limited menus push the numbers up, while large appetizer spreads and multiple mains pull them down.
